BACKGROUND:
Araya Yemelkam Zega Keresa mahiber (ARAYA) is a non-partisan and non-profit and indigenous NGO. The operation of the organization has begun in October 2004 after its registration by Ministry of Justice on December 5/2003 (No 1377).

ARAYA ACOMPLISHED THE FOLLOWINGS SO FAR:
1. Organize unemployed youths mainly girls in saving and credit unionsand enabled them to start their     own business.
2. Provide various skill training (like computer and food preparation)for unemployed girls.
3. Shape young people to develop behavior that is acceptable in the society through various workshops,     community conversation, and training.
4. Organize remedial class for low achiever students.
5. Provide entrepreneurship training for unemployed youths by giving priority for girls.
6. Organize various youth clubs like anti drug, girls, sport…
7. Enable young people to be successful in their academic life.
8. Organize libraries in two different kebeles.
9. Organizing community based correction center for children.
10. Familiarize PASDEP/MDGs in different Oromia regions in partnership with Pane.


VISION:
Araya aspires to see value oriented citizens and contribute their part to the development of the country.

MISSIONS:
The missions of Araya is to enable citizens especially (children & youth) to differentiate what is accepted from what is not accepted by promoting awareness, by establishing children and youth friendly center and by organizing. Conmunitr based diversion system for children for making acceptable ethical judgment & developing habits & attitudes for living in & contributing to peaceful democratic society

GOAL:
Araya’s goal is to ensure citizens (especially children & youths) realize the importance of promoting accepted values.

VALUE:
Araya will pursue its mission with integrity, persistence, transparency, faithfulness & will at all times be accountable to its stakeholders.

PRINCIPLES:
Legality: Araya operates in compliance with the laws of the Nation.
Accountability: Araya is accountable to its board, members, government partners, donors & the general public.
Stakeholder Participation:
Araya involves members, volunteers, the public & private sectors, civil society organizations, etc its activates
Networking: ARAYA forges partnerships & works closely with others who share its vision, mission goals & objectives.
Flexibility: Araya believes that in learning through initiative & action.


STRATEGIES:
Araya will closely work with relevant stakeholders and develop networking with other organizations to increase effectiveness and coordinated effort.

ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT:
The General Assembly is the supreme authority of ARAYA. Elected by & from members of the General Assemble to whom it is responsible, the Board of Directors is the managing body of the organization. It is entrusted with responsibility for, among others, issuing policies, adopting decisions on out standing issues & monitoring & supervising the overall operation of the organization. Headed by the manager, she is responsible for the execution of decisions of the Board, program developments, implementation & the day to day running of the organization.

SOURCE OF INCOME:
1. Contribution of Members.
2. Found from partners and donors.


MEMBERSHIP:
Membership is open to all individuals who share the vision, mission, goal & objective of the association.
